    Lunch - Saturday, July 20, 2013

I chose this restaurant because of the previous two reviews and a lot must have changed for the worst. The atmosphere, view and service were spectacular. I just wish I could have included the food, or lack there of. We decided to order the entree or your choice of a cup of clam chowder/salad/shrimp cocktail for an extra $3. The clam chowder was excellent, the "shrimp" cocktail was a saucer with a bed of lettuce for garnish and salad shrimp and a small plastic container or cocktail sauce! I would hate to think what the salad was. We ordered from the lunch menu (no substitutions). I ordered the trout that came with shoestring fries (no garnish) and ketchup on a plate slightly larger than the one my gravy jug sits on. My son the (popcorn) fried shrimp & fries (on a gravy jug plate and my mother the Shrimp (salad shrimp) Louie in a large soup bowl. As for the wine, now that was interesting. $6/each for a glass of Berringer White Zin which came in a large wine glass only 1/3 full or approximately 3/4 cup of wine! An hour later we were at Starbucks getting coffee and snacks! Would I be back? Not sure if the dinner menu would be any better. I would have gladly paid $5 extra/person to get some type of vegetable with lunch....

    Best Seafood in SF

Even in April, it was the best choice for an evening break from the city, with an excellent menu and the most friendly service.

Everytime I've gone to Alioto's has been a great experience for all. The oysters are great as is everything else I have tried. Be sure to order the Risotto Alioto...a treat!
