I spent a few years in Aix-en-Provence and was transported to my days there as I dined with my husband. We didn't have a reservation, but were graciously seated quickly (before the rush). Impeccable service, outstanding duck confit (I had the lamb daube which was also great--but I'm definitely ordering the duck for myselft next time!) Simple food, equisitely prepared. Our server recommended a wonderful, reasonably price Rhone which paired nicely with our meal. Casual, not pretentious. Great neighborhood experience. Perhaps one of the other reviewers went to the Chez Papa resto not bistro. The bistro was authentic, delicious and great value (not inexpensive, but GREAT value!)

Food is excellent, very good rendition of authentic French dishes. Service and reception very good, warm and friendly.

This small french bistro has the potential to be a great neighborhood restaurant, if only the management weren't so subpar. The food is very good, hence the many people trying to get in, but the service is not good. They don't honor their reservations - we arrived right on time for an 8pm table on a recent Friday night, and there were no tables reserved for us. The rude manager dismissed us with a "It'll be at least 35 minutes" while we stared incredulously. When we protested, he sneered "You're ten minutes late." We held up our watch to show him he was wrong. He dismissed us with "I have another clock." We couldn't believe it. When we asked for at least a complimentary drink while we waited, he began to argue with us that it was our fault he hadn't saved our table. We finally left!
