I went for a special family dinner: We are Italian, my father was born in Rome from Abruzzese parents, I lived there for 35 years and I have never had a comparable meal anywhere outside of Italy. Despite the fact that the ingredients are slightly different here I felt as if I was back in Milan or on the beach in Cinque Terre. Fantastico. The service was impeccable, the lighting was soft and flattering, the kitchen sending out little tastes of this and that to try since the young chefs are working hard at getting everyone "hooked". And they will succeed.

I'm italian and I've been in san francisco last month. I've eaten pasta like in italy. It's wonderful and the atmosphere is fantastic! If you want eat the real italian food go to chiaroscuro.

I tried it based on reviews here and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The carbonara was so delicious, the salad very large, and incredibly good coffee. It's nice to find a casual but tasteful restaurant in the financial district that is not dark and too loud or obnoxious. It is obvious the chef cares about his food and serving high quality. I highly recommend this place and plan to go back with my book and enjoy the atmosphere and the great food. On a side note, I also loved the dishes and flatware. I went for lunch and plan to go for dinner...simple yet elegant.

For only being open a five weeks this place has got things together. You really feel like a VIP and the food is not like any other Italian Restaurant I have been to before in San Francisco. Great Job!!!
