When we arrived, I was excited to see beautiful ceramic plates at each table. Wow, I thought, how colorful and festive. Evidently, they were merely decorative placeholders, and were whisked away once we sat down. This set the tone, as such decorative expressions sought to hide overpriced food that was merely okay. The portions were stingy and I actually left hungry (with a $57 bill for 3 people, with 2 beers on the tab) - an experience I had yet to ever have on a Mexican restaurant. . The meal came with a tiny platter of beans and rice for the whole table to share- literally 3 tablespoons of each. I didn't realize beans and rice were so expensive... At our table, the tacos were tiny, the carnitas deep fried and tough. The waitress had *really* weird energy. Rushed us to leave, and the restaurant was dead.. Next time I crave Mexican while on Church St, I'll walk the few blocks to Mission street, have amazing meal for a fraction of the price, and leave full.
