  • Chile Pies and Ice Cream

    why bother?

The food was totally uninspired. The food was named better than the food was executed. I ordered the chilli chicken pot pie with cheddar crust. To their credit they heat the pies in a warming oven and it takes 20 minutes (That's OK but the crust was brought to the table burnt) The crust that wasn't burnt was very edible but the filling was flavorless even with the green chilli on the side. My partner ordered the Frito chile pie which was some ground meat on Fritos in a Frito bag(bag in a bowl)with some pico de gallo sauce and no flavor. The other two people in our party ordered the chicken chilli stew which had tiny miniscule bits of chicken and a large bowl of broth again with no flavor except a chilli burn . This was supposed to come with corn bread but they were out of cornbread at 7:00 P.M. on a Thursday and they substituted (when brought to the table) with what was described as a spring saled which was chopped lettuce with pico de gallo on top. My dessert was mixed berry pie with with frozen yogurt a la mode the crust was passable but the berry filling was lacking , it was kind of dry and had nothing to punch up the flavor other than sugar. The things that were not made by their kitchen were very good. The ice cream was quite good which my partner had . Another one of our party had a root beer float and it was really good , but again it didn"t come out of their kitchen. The service was negligible because they have you order from the counter and bring things out to you, This might be a good place to have a mediocre dessert or some pretty good ice cream but I wouldn"t reccomend if for the food
