Christmas Day around town was pretty widely sold out several days beforehand. We found 55 and latched on to it. Big mistake. The bill was $100/person. The food was buffet served just off the lobby. And the valet parking only for hotel quests. The buffet consisted of 3 salads, 3 vegetable platters, and two servers slicing ham or beef. Dessert was a wide choice of little candies or small pastries. the serving room was set on 3 large tables in a tunnel like room off the bar. The platters looked quite nice and well arranged. That was about all the good one could say. The salad arrangements (eg. endives, blue cheese, and beets) had little taste - they were arranged to look nice but not to eat. The vegetables (except for the platter of mashed sweet potatoes) also look nice, but were mostly undercooked and not pleasant to eat. The two carved meets were ordinary. The ham was a thin slice of blah and the beef way overdone. One of us was a vegetarian; there was no appropriate dish except the salads or vegetables. We had one bottle of a nice French-like white wine from Oregon - $38. No complaint there. The bar waiters attended well to replacing forks and napkins everytime we went to find some real food. And the bill was $285. Twas not a Merry Christmas.
