Ducca Passa
First, I should say that I'm not a foodie. I tend to frequent cheap, ethnic eateries for the most part. But I had dinner at Ducca recently so thought I'd share my thoughts. I'm a vegetarian and was pleased to see several options. The atmosphere is luscious. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive if not a bit confusing - one minute they were practically taking the food out of our mouths to remove the plates and the next we felt stranded waiting for the next course. We ordered appetizers and small plates. The special heirloom tomato salad was excellent as was the Arancini (what I call risotto balls). The cheese plate was good, though not particularly sensational. My dining companion and I both ordered the Sweet Corn Tortelloni. Not a good choice. I'm sure some would find the sweetness and what seemed to be mass quantities of butter appealing, unfortunately, we did not. I can't speak to the wine list, but I did have an Italian Mojito - quite tasty and quite strong. With all the excellent restaurants in San Francisco, I'm not sure how Ducca will stand out from the rest other than a good place for a drink after work. The courtyard is quite lovely and a good place to meet for after work drinks - most of the diners looked to be business people.
