I have been going to Sushi places all over America and this place is still my favorite. I love taking newbies here. It's all very good but if you order a few things here people just melt and go limp. Aji or Spanish Mackeral, med Toro, live Scallop, Dragon Roll, Swamp Roll, 49er, Bonito are some of my favorites. To this day people I've brought here years ago will ask after this place and is it still so good and I assure them it is and next time you're in town we'll go.

For many years Ebisu and one other [now gone] sushi restaurant had been my favorites. I have tried most good sushi bars here in San Francisco, elsewhere in California, Oregon, Washington, New York and throughout Japan. I would be hard-pressed to find any better and, when I have had sushi as good, it hasn't been as consistently so as at Ebisu. Recently, I celebrated a nearly thirty-year anniversary of dining there with a close friend. It continues to deliver the freshest, purest traditional sushi as well as truly inventive preparations, all without getting too cute, as many other would-be sushi bars sometimes become. The current incarnation of Ebisu - remodeled from top to bottom - is both more comfortable than before and still true to the traditional look of Japanese sushi restaurants...in Japan! Don't miss going there. You won't be disappointed.

With a lot of Japanese restaurant around the area on 9th and Irving, this place is very good. Try it out when you are around the park.
