Fabulous
I LOVE this place! The food, service and atmosphere is right on. I go there so much that the owners know me by name! It's in a great location and the size of the restaurant is perfect because it allows the waitresses & waiters to really give great service and the wait time for food is usually minimal. I think I have tried everything on menu already! You will not be disappointed. Oh, and a good thing to do is if you are ordering anything to go, just place a phone order and by the time you get there (about 15 minutes or so), your order will be ready!

Dog Patch Jewel
Happy to know that dog patch still has a few of it's charming eateries serving some of the best food home style cooking in SF. Nothing beats their fried chicken and the bbq spare ribs. both done just right. Chicken cooked perfectly crunchy. Ribs falling off the bone! Thank you Buc for turning us on to this place.

Thank god we came across this place...
My husband stumbled across this place soon after it opened and thank god he did! I am a fried chicken-aholic and I swear you will not find better in the city. I have heard some complaints that their side dished were kind of bland, but I totally disagree. I love their red beans and rice, their mashed potatoes and the corn bread. If I had to find one thing to complain about it would be the collard greens. They are too bitter for me, but for how delicious everything else is I am more than willing to ignore that. Parking is easy, and you would be hard pressed to find a time that you have to wait for a table. Trust me, try it, you will not be disappointed.

Why don't we have a whole range of good soul food in San Francisco? Thank goodness Hard Knox fills at least part of the gap.

Delicious food, great prices
I hope Hard Knox Cafe stays a hidden gem for a long time, so I can keep it all to myself and just enough others to keep their business running healthily! Great soul food choices, all meals come with 2 corn muffins hot from the oven; extensive beverage selection (anything you'd want to drink with soul food, they have it)... They do everything right at this place. Fast, friendly service too, and easy parking! TV and stereo playing good music, so even if you have to go solo, you'll feel just fine at the bar. Highly recommended: ox tail, beef short ribs, pork chops.
