Upon walking into the House of Nanking, you definitely won't be dazzled by the atmosphere of the restaurant as it only inhabits a small two-room dining area. Also, expect to wait outside the restaurant for a table as there is no standing room inside, and there is almost always a line to be seated. However, the wait won't be more than 15 minutes because this place will have its patrons in and out in less than 30 minutes. So far, I know this place doesn't sound amazing in the least, but just hold your judgements until after you've tried the food because IT IS TO DIE FOR. As you will see on the walls, the restaurant has many a 5-star awards for best chinese food in SF. The walls even adorn some photos of celebrity figures that have eaten. And, like I said, the place will always be packed with patrons, so that says something great about the food since the atmosphere and service are sub-par. Also, the food is relatively cheap. Since the menu is relatively undescriptive, you may have trouble selecting dish. But don't worry because the owner of the place (who also takes patrons orders most of the time) will be happy to suggest you the perfect dish for your taste buds. After one time eating there, I bet you'll go back for more.
