I am an east coast native going to college here in San Francisco. I've tried the Cheesesteak Shop over at Divisidero and they were okay. They didn't put enough meat in their cheesesteak. Then I went to the one over at Stockton and Columbus I believe it was. They're name is forgettable, as their food. As soon as I saw the banner that said "You're in Eagle Country", I knew I that I fould the holy grail of cheesesteaks in San Francisco. The service was great. They knew what I meant when I said "whiz with" and the food was amazingly authentic.

Jake has a nice sport bar with big screen plasmas, beer, and serve the best cheesesteaks in town. I think the traditional whiz wit, with onion, and sweet pepper is awesome and just like those at Pat's in Philly. The atmosphere at this place is lively. I go there often to just watch the games or eat in the outdoor seating area when it is sunny.

I almost feel as if this a public service announcement.... don't get Jake's Steaks delivered. I really like the food here (being a native East Coaster), but I absolutely must let people know that their delivery service is very poor. I've eaten at Jake's before, and it really is great - they really serve a great sandwich....however, twice in a week now, I've gotten food delievered, only to find that it took between an hour and 1 1/2 hours for the food to arrive! I live within fiftenn minutes' driving time from the store, so this was utterly ridiculous. In addition, both times, the food was cold, and smashed flat from being stacked with other stuff. The second time, when I mentioned the wait, I was basically told by the driver that I was lucky that it didn't take him longer....order in at your own peril.

Just moved here from Pa - a very good cheesesteak- good quality and nice soft roll. I will be back!
