    Good sushi. Good price

Been to a lot more expensive sushi places in the city that were not neary as good. Love the california rolls. Amebi is great. Samon portions are good.

    Not Fancy, Great Value

I eat at Kitaro a lot because I love their rainbow rolls. For the price they're terrific.

what do you negative nancys expect?

this place is wonderful. sushi is way overpriced and its great that those of us who actually DO live paycheck to pacheck can go out to eat sushi without checking how much it is first. the quality is better than many overpriced sushi restaurants i've eaten at....and i am a sushi fan. we should all be grateful for kitaro.

    Great food and prices

I love this place and go there pretty often. The sushi is super cheap and really good. You wont get anything fancy like at those 200 bucks a meal sushi places, but for a good cheap meal - it's perfect.

    This place has gone downhill...

This used to be such a great place about 5 years ago. Then it changed ownership and it has slowly gone downhill more and more since then. I don't mind the non-traditional style chirashii or other non-traditional japanese dishes, the fact that the fish is fresh but not high caliber, or the fact that not a single person who works/cooks there is japanese... what I do mind is that the food is slowly going from cheap, pleantiful and tasty to medium-priced Last visit, I had a mixed bento box with salmon shioyaki and my BF had the large Unagi donburi (b.t.w. Kitaro: donburi means over rice). Everything was subpar. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants.... sigh....

    We should have known better....

After some quick web research, we found Kitaro and were very excited about having found an inexpensive nieghborhood sushi joint... You can't expect quality for a $1.99... I mean realistically what were we thinking?

    Great and affordable sushi

Kitaro is located on Geary street. You may find yourself circling the streets to find parking, although during dinner time, good luck. The atmosphere is so-so: high ceilings with cheesy decor. The wait staff is quick to seat you but even quicker to walk away. The sushi is very fresh and the prices can't be beat.
