!Riquissimo!
Went to La Palma recently on my first trip to SF. Places like this make me wonder how I survived being a vegetarian for 5 years. I ordered a taco de carnitas, and they chopped the pork as I ordered it. Delicious. A friend ordered a pork a green chili taco- super fresh and delicious, however, I am addicted to carnitas. Also, my friend asked for a sample of chicharron, and they gave us a huge honkin' piece for free (I'm glad they did as I wouldn't want to necessarily buy a lot of chicharrones, but I'm happy I was able to try theirs). The best is the potato chips you can buy there- fresh chips fried in lard. There are also tons of Mexican grocery items and such. This is Mexican food unapologetically as it should be. There are very very very few good Mexican places in New York, but if La Palma ever wants to switch coasts, I will gladly let them set up shop in my kitchen!
