Because: it's grilled over open flame (no skillet/flattop action her; instead THE smokiest flavor imaginable), and it's chopped by hand, not too fine, right before your very eyes. My favorite is with guacamole, salsa fresca, housemade hot sauce (at the table), and pinto beans. Watermelon agua fresca is the most lovely thing...All the agua frescas -- and everything in the place -- is so incredibly fresh. And such a steal! Order the taco with one "crespa" shell (one crispy, one soft; two shelld in one taco).

This has been my favorite taqueria for years. I don't eat meat all that often, but if I'm in the mood, this is the place to get the best carne asada tacos available on this planet. I get them with the works (sour cream, cheese, avocado, salsa). It ends up costing me -- the other day I got two tacos with the works, chips & salsa, and a small horchata for $14. But what can I say? It's the best. I like the veggie burritos too, but it's tough to compete with Taqueria Cancun's veggie burrito.
