We came down the hill to Lori's occasionally, often on week nights as well as weekends. Not surprisingly there is always a wait on weekends but not weekdays. The employees never caught on that we are regulars . Last night we waited a long time for a view table--I wouldn't quibble about that. The food is ok, service ok also, but it's the view and diner atmosphere which brought us there repeatedly until last night. We had a typical seafood meal--the fish and chips are actually pretty good and chatted with tourists at the next table and on line--they really are interested to know that Lombard Street isn't the only crooked street in the City. After the waiter offered my friend more coffee which he took, we paid our bill by credit card with tip, but as while friend was finishing his coffee, the waiter came back and said to him, "there are people waiting!" We would have been gone in five minutes anyway but that spoiled the evening for us. We check out the people waiting, there were about a third as many as when we were waiting. I hope they discontinue this rude practice as I wouldn't want any of our tourists treated this way.
