Last year we visited San Francisco on a trip along the California coast. We stayed at the Beresford Hotel. We decided we'd walk to dinner and select a restaurant based on crowd and window menu. We ended up at L'Ottavo. It was great! As my sweetie said as we walked back to the hotel, "I didn't know pasta could taste so good." So if you're in the area, this is a good place to eat!

We had my sister's 50th Birthday Party here and it was wonderful. We had a party of 13. The restaurant feels like home and the atmosphere is just what you would expect for a small Italian restaurant located close to Union Square and the Theatre District. This was the 4th time that I have eaten here. The food is good and priced right also. Some of the great dishes are the penne with brocolli and achovies in an olive oil sause, the lasagne, the linguine with mussels and clams, the spinach and caesar salads, the penne with spicy sausage and brocolli. Their bread is very good also and their wine menu is reasonable too. I would highly recommend this restaurant and all 13 of us will be back in the future. Our only comment was that they really needed one more waiter as there were only two in the restaurant and it was very busy but we were not in a hurry so it didn't matter to us and they were very kind to us, and made it very special for my sister.

We were for the first time in San Francisco, wow, it is really exciting, as we all know.. We had some very good dinners in several restaurants. But the most friendly service, good food and very reasonable prices were at Marco's place: Restaurant L' ottavo! He is a real original maitre d'hotel. He knows what you like, he has a good taste and takes his customers very serious. His slogan must be: if you're happy, I'm happy. Taste this restaurant!

What a small little gem- loved the food and good for Vegan and Vegetarian options. Loved the Capers!

Every time I visit San Francisco, I try to have at least one dinner at L'Ottavo. The menu is varied and appealing, and I can always count on my favorite dishes tasting as I remember them. The service is good if a little slow sometimes, but they are happy to accommodate special situations and are pleasant to deal with. Don't miss the cannelloni, it's a real treat, and the tira mi su is fabulous. This is one restaurant I keep in my cell phone even though I don't live in SFO!

Always a delightful dining experience. Traditional dishes are as good as you might expect in Tuscany. The unhurried service will make you want to return often. Start with an antipasto with a barolo and let your care melt away.
