A Great Overall Experience!
Updated but still authentic Indian cuisine and by far the best in this area. Make a meal of the delicious appetizers or try the tikka masala or rogan josh. Even desserts excel here and the wine list is very good, both unusual in Indian restaurants. The service is very knowledgeable and superb. The decor is elegant. The only negative is the noise level in the bar sometimes. But we'll definitely be back many times.

A trip to India without leaving SF
Vegetable samosas, garlic naan and chicken tikka masala are some of the featured goodies in this neighborhood restaurant. Lunch and dinner are served daily and most main dishes are $12.00 to $15.00 and you have enough to take home for the next day. Stop by and try this if you like Indian food. The owners are friendly and the service is great!

Perfect
Excellent food, great ambiance, good service, and decent prices. New Delhi was the best meal of our trip to San Francisco. We both got curries and shared rice, naan, and lentils. It all tasted wonderful, and we were stuffed when we were finished. The drinks were affordable and the indian music the perfect touch.

Worth a return trip
I visited San Francisco for five days and ate lunch at New Delhi on the first day. The food was so good and the service so excellent that I had to return for dinner on my last night there. Try the chicken korma. It was tender and sweet and was nicely juxtaposed with the saffron rice and chutneys. My husband ate the Tandoori platter and loved it. There was so much yummylicious food we nearly couldn't finish it. I would recommend going for lunch since the crowd at dinner can be a little much.

A quite space with great food
Most of us have gotten used to Indian restaurants being bright red and gold; be prepared for New Delhi's soothing off-white and lavish scheme, set amid a modern setting. The large dining room - complete with marble column is quiet oasis in the middle of busy downtown SF. The menu is expansive: curries, tandooris, chef's specials and many classic Indian favorites. The portion sizes are large and meant to be shared. Also, the nan bread is out of this world!

Word of mouth isn't wrong
I went to New Delhi recently after endless suggestions from other people. To start off, their cocktails are great, but definitely try their Mango Martini. You cannot go wrong. They have a good selection of curries - of course, but there's a plenty of other good stuff to choose from as well . We opted for the tandoori and tiki masala, and I assure you, every morsel put into our mouths was amazing. The desserts are house made and a great counterpoint to all that (wonderful) spice. Food was great, ambience was great, you cannot go wrong here.
