Great breakfast.
Fantastic French toast. Eggs & steak cooked just the way we ordered .

Best Breakfast near the square!
Tired of Starbuck's and standing in line for Sear's pancakes? This is the place for you. For $9 I had a huge platter of fluffy whole wheat pancakes and three juicy chicken sausages. My husband had a smoked salmon omelette with a bagel and pork sausage. The service was good, and the atmosphere was fine. Almost everything can be ordered a la carte if you're not especially hungry. We are going there for lunch soon!

Regrettable....
The calamari were like deep fried rubber bands- greasy, underseasoned and the aoli was plain at best. The bloody mary mix consisted of Libby's tomato juice and a dried out lime wedge. I only gave the food a 2.5 because the hummus wasn't that bad, but I think it comes from a bucket. This was my 1st meal in SF and I really regret that.

Excellent Italian restaurant.
I dined there once. The menu and food was the best. The service was great. The only thing lacking was a small bit of "atmosphere". I would recommend it to anyone.

Not much pride in food or preparation
The cooks do not put much effort in the food preparation or presentation. And I concur with the first reveiw, they almost always get it WRONG!

problems for sure
Every time we have eaten here our order has been wrong. Usually, we would quit going to this type of establishment but I became addicted to a certain sauce they make while pregnant. We live a few blocks away and use their delivery service. Every time our order is missing items. To make matters worse, there is a huge language barrier so calling back in to get the missing items is a nightmare! They always forget the yogurt sauce. This is the entire reason I have kept going here. It took four phone calls until their delivery person returned with our sauce due to the communication barrier. By that time our food was COLD. When we called and complained they offer no compensation or refund. Their customer service is so poor that my husband will not order from them anymore. Last time, just to make sure we would get yogurt sauce, we asked for extra sauce and they STILL forgot the sauce AND our salads that come with the "dinner for two". I really can't believe I still order from here but their lamb kabob with yogurt sauce has me! We even had similar problems while dining in. That time we asked for two small dinner salads and were served large dinner salads. They responded by saying, 'oh don't worry about it" but then we had to ask for them to take the extra charge off our bill. If you don't mind subpar customer service than this restaurant is worth checking out.

No thanks
I must inform you of the dinner I had at Persimmon restaurant on 7/27/2007. I have eaten at this café twice before with satisfactory results. Much to my dismay, my past experiences were no reflection upon the items listed. Let me be more exact. I frequently eat out… everyday for lunch and two or three times a week for dinner. I know food…I know good food and I seldom encounter really bad food. Mediterranean cuisine is one of my favorites. Never have I tasted dolmas, as they were prepared at this restaurant. They were presented as if someone has thrown together rice and a few grape leaves, neither of which was palatable. Thinking perhaps that the Shish kabob would compensate for the strange tasting dolmas, I waited politely for my entree. Well, I was mistaken. The beef was tough, fatty and flavorless. As for the onions and bell pepper, where were these additions to the Kabob? It would have been a relief to taste something natural! In addition, the waitress misinformed me about the wine list…does she not know which wines come from California and what wines are European? The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I must add, a feeling of being disappointed for the bill paid. Respecting the owner as a reputable restaurateur, I did write a letter expecting some kind of response. Once again, I was rudely surprised by their lack of customer concern!
