the best crab and service in town!!!
exceptional service by "keoki" and edsel. we had the vip service with special bibs. (they knew we were savages) the crab & clam chowder was onolicious! minus the bum that spilled our melted butter. great people, awesome service and great food!

No thanks
I went there yesterday 10th Aug, 2006. It was a disappointing experience. The seafood was not fresh at all, it smelt very "fishy". The pasta was overcooked and the sauces didn't have a lot taste. The portions were very small, and not cheap, by the way. This is a one time restaurant...once you go, you don't have to go back.

Great fish, everything else- so-so
Sabella & LaTorre is a decent place offering a good value and better prices than I generally saw in the Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 area. I ordered the Mixed Grill, a special comprised of grilled shrimp, halibut, and salmon, plus steamed vegetables, rice pilaf, a cup of clam chowder, and some really excellent bread. The fish was outstanding, simply seasoned mainly with garlic powder. As I said, the bread was great, and the clam chowder was pretty good, but the vegetables were pretty obviously prepared from frozen, and the rice pilaf was out of a box. My server left a lot to be desired; other servers appeared to be much more efficient and attentive. As good as the fish was, it generally wiped out the iffy service and so-so sides. Overall I was full when I left, pleased with my visit and rate it a very good value. The place doesn't try to be something it's not and there's something to be said for that.
