Excellence in Vietnamese Food
Sais is a clean establishment for the type of restaurants. They are very crowded at lunchtime that sometimes there is a line out the door. The waiters are fast at taking your orders, but my concern is with the lady that gives you the tea. She needs to get the ball rolling. I have asked for tea at least six times and she will ignore your request. That is the only problem i have is that tea lady who's only job seems to be pouring and delivering tea to the tables and she is so slow at doing that (which is why I rate the service here at a 3.5). The food is excellent. I love their curry fish, ginger & basil beef, and their imperial rolls. Most of the items on their menu are tasty! The price is decent for the financial district/embarcadero area. The do serve alot of dishes that is not typical of other Vietnamese restaurants. I say unique tasty food is the best way to describe it...

Good Bang for your buck
Don't know what the last poster was talking about..though it is a bit of a hole in the wall kind of place...most of the best restaurants in SF are it is clean and decent with adequae service. This isn't four star dining...and I beg to differ that it is clean for the type of restaurant it is which is an affordable lunch and dinner place that you get great value for the food. The food is tasty and more importantly if you want a quick lunch to go...it's perfect...eating there it is packed so you may not get in quick, but you'll get out pretty quick as most dishes don't take that long to preare. Try the Imperial Rolls or the Beef Cubes, delicious.

Unclean, okay tasting food
I'm forced to go to Sai's because it's the only choice for Vietnamnese food in the Embarcadero area (besides that outrageously overpriced Pho Hoa place in Embarcadero 3?) First of all the waitor forgot to give me tea. I waited 17 minutes for my curry noodle beef stew (I sat across from their clock and therefore timed the service). I was very mad by the time my soup finally came. Noodle soup - big bowl but small portion and very oily. Compared to the less pretentious, 5-minutes waiting time Pho spot (Golden Star) @ 11 Walter U Lum Pl | Btwn Washington & Clay St , this place is below average and overpriced for its quantity. Please, for those who rated 5 stars, give other Pho places a try.

Don't miss it
If you want a good quality meal inexpensively then Sai's is a great place for lunch or an early dinner. The Imperial rolls are excellent and the noodle dishes are varied and tasty. The garlic beef cubes is one of my favorites and the service is friendly and fast. Located in the financial district near Chinatown and Northbeach, it is a convenient place to take clients or coworkers for a quick efficient tasty meal. But it isn't a bad place to linger if you have the afternoon off. Take out is even better. A place you can frequent and not get tired of if you have a chance to try it out and you'll keep going back.

Great bang for you buck
Sai's has been at this location for years and the quality is what keeps it in business for so long. This place gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Food is great and service is friendly. The crowd packs in there at lunch so either get there earlier or later. You may want to consider going for dinner when there is no crowd and the food is equally as good and inexpensive.

Great place
This is a great place especially for lunch. The food is very flavorful and the service is great. It's a place where you gather friends for a great value, affordable lunch and you can order family style or rice plates, or noodle soups on a cold day. It;s lively and always packed at lunch, so be sure to get there early if you are watching the clock. The service is fast, but because it's a popular destination it's just hard to get in sometimes. Ordering to go is the next best bet...then you don't have to risk not getting a table. Great Imperial rolls and more.
