What a great restaurant in West Portal. Celebrated my friends birthday there. Food was delicious and the service was superb. Can't wait to go back with my husband.

I've been going to this restaurant for years any have only watched it decline to it's current state of affairs. The food is mediocre at best, at a recent visit the restaurant had a strange smell of some cleaner that was very unpleasant, the water we were served had a very unpleasant metalic taste, probably due to the metal pitcher it was served from, the bread was cold and stale, the pasta - eh! and it's a little pricey. Too bad, we really used to love this place, but no more! It's our neighborhood, but we won't be going back anytime soon.

We ate at Spiazzo on friday night and were surprised to get seated quickly. The service was very attentive and quick. The decor in was good, but a little noisy. All of us really enjoyed our meals. My spaghetti portofino was cooked perfectly with tender scallops and shrimp with a light sauce that did not weigh down the dish. I will go back again when we visit. Wish I could have brought the cook with me!

Undistinguished food, served in a nice room. The service was not gracious, only adequate. When we asked for a few peas in the penne salmone, they put them in (maybe 1/4 cup at most) and charged us an extra $1! The pasta for both our entres was overcooked, and the sauces were gummy.

50/50 I have had several meals at Spizzos. The food is sometimes very good, and sometimes just ok. The same is to be said about the service.

I may have to give this restaurant another try because it was obviously popular on the Friday we visited. Maybe it is inconsistent, as a previous reviewer noted. I have been here in the past and my recollection was that the food was unremarkable (read: not memorable). The salad with parmessan cheese was good, but the special seafood pasta entree had a heavy cream sauce that weighed down the pasta and seafood. Disappointing. The scallops had the texture of being previously frozen, and my companion's shrimp was overdone. BUT, service was very attentive.

We've been coming here since 1998. It's our favorite neighborhood Italian place. We love the Penne al Salmone and the Polenta. The trout, pizzas, and pear salad are also excellent. The staff is great at accommodating our kids (2-year-old and 4-month-old) and dietary restriction for one of us (no dairy or egg). We always order something right when we sit down for our toddler and the dish usually arrives in less than 10 minutes, keeping the hungry kid at bay.
