An awesome meal! A great deal! An amazing owner & staff!
I passed The Codmother several times thinking, "i wonder if its any good." After all there were no long lines and the area was kind of "cozy." After conquering the hills of San Fran i was rather hungry! I was NOT disappointed! I ordered the combo with the "special" fries! The customer service was second to none! The food is made to order. Trust me when i say they have really perfected the art of preparing awesome fish and chips! The owner came to our table and was so warm and welcoming! My friend, a self proclaimed "foodie" was blown away and definitely hooked! He 's planning another trip to San Fran to go back to The Codmother! The portion was hearty so i wasn't able to try the fried oreos! I was stuffed from my meal! The batter was perfect! Not thick or flavorless like most places! You MUST stop by for lunch or dinner! You wont be disappointed at all! P,S. the atmosphere is pleasant and very clean! I never leave reviews but i just have to tell everyone about this must have delight!

A Taste of Britain in San Francisco!
Ditto all the other reviewers! It's been 8 years since we last had Fish and Chips and the Codmother brought tears to our eyes. CHIPS as they should be (not fries) and battered Fish. The Oreos were excellent as was the deep fried Snickers(!!). The owner treated us like family and we spent some time talking. If you do nothing else in San Francisco, go see the Codmother - we'll go back to just for her!

Fish and Chips
My family came from Scotland so I grew up eating home made fish and chips. My Mum's were great, but these are the best fish and chips that I have ever had (sorry Mum). We stop in every time we are in San Francisco.

Great. Best fresh cut fries ever
This was our first stop in San Fran. We took the advice from our hotel and went to The Cod Mothers for lunch. Wow, were we surprised how good fish and chips could be. So fresh. Not too greasy. The fries were the best I've had since I was a boy and my mom made fresh cut french fries using her Veg-O-Matic. The only bad thing is that we only went there once!

Great food!
For less than ten dollars the Fairy Codmother produced a wonderful fish and chips dinner. The food was delicious with 2 large strips of fish deep fried to sublime tenderness over a large batch of excellent french fries. Hot, large portions, and delicious, a real catch at Fisherman’s Wharf. Highly recommended!

Brutishly delicious
The cod mother is more like a fairy godmother who sticks her head out of her fish bowl( window) talking with her adorable British accent! My husband and I stumbled upon her tonight. She was just about to close but still served us. The fish and chips with a touch of vinegar absolutely delicious! the best in all of San Fran. Who would have thought a little place like this with little metal patio tables and chairs to sit and eat would be zoo yummy!

Best Fish and Chips in SF
Go visit The Codmother (Suzanne) asap if you are a fan of deep fried food. Her Fish and Chips are the best i have had in SF since coming here from UK 4 years ago. Fish Tacos are delicious and the deep fried oreos are out of this world. Suzanne is really friendly and treats everyone like a family member.
