    Overpriced and average

Evenings this loungey vibe place seems to be awkwardly library quiet -- I guess because it's an odd industrial storefront location, it offers poor value, and the menu, though holding out the promise of something interesting, has on my visits repeatedly disappointed with substandard food (though plating can be 'pretty')--"Asian fusion" in the bad way where it just seems to be a means to up the sticker price and diminish authentic taste. What is "beach cuisine" anyway? Sand in your $14 (!) bowl of fried rice? Service attempts to be friendly and would work in a neighborhood Thai place, but when you are paying Slanted Door prices you tend to expect more. The design and the bar ambiance is poshy so maybe Walnut Creek underage trendsters will inhabit for a few months and try to sneak drinks, but those serious about a dining experience will want to give it a pass.
