When I move out of the Castro, I'm sure I'll go through Sausage Factory withdrawal. This is my favorite place to get a pizza and a beer when the boyfriend on late dinner nights. I love our usual sassy waiter and the cozy atmosphere. Thinking about it is making me hungry.

We were visiting San Fran for a 10 day stay on vacation, the first night, we went to a great bar for happy hour, we wanted a good italian place and the doorman recommanded this place, what a disapointment, first, bad atmosphere, second, food, what cheap frozen food, sauce was like chef boyardee, wine serve in a straight glass, too expensive for cheap dull food with no taste, the best, waiter was nice !...WE DO NOT RECOMMANDED THIS AT ALL

Well, for my first time at The Sausage Factory I have to say I was pleased with both the food and the service. The portions are plentiful and attractively presented. The atmosphere is kind of "old school Italian funk" (if there is such a thing) and the crowd was a pleasant one. One great thing about this restaurant is the acoustics. You can actually carry on a conversation with your fellow diners without having to shout. Next time, I think I'll try one of their pizzas. The ones I saw coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Ciao!

Good Pasta and Pizza here in the Castro & if you wish to have a Private space they have booths that line the passage between the main Dinning room and the Bar & Pizza ovens in the back. Not the cheapest place in the Castro , but the place is decent , and if you get a booth you will feel a little less crowded in this normally packed space.
