    Good food and service

We came with a group of 4 on a friday around 8:30 and were pleasantly surpised to find that we were able to be seated and served in the small lounge area right away. The food was great, we all tried something different for dinner. The halibut and steak were especially good. We also tried two desserts and both were so great I would go back just to eat them again. Overall, town hall has great food, service and atmosphere but beware that it is pricey!

    Worth a trip

I visited Town Hall and had a wonderful meal. The place is very comfortable and I was not rushed. Started with Oysters and moved on to Appetizers and entrees and great size portions we could not finish. The service was very good and the food even better. So many great choices I will return when I am in San Fran again.

    Was I disappointed!

A friend chose this lunch spot for my birthday lunch because her past experience had been so wonderful. She raved about the food from the moment the reservations were made. Unfortunately, Town Hall did not live up to the hype. First, the butter lettuce salad arrived swimming in dressing. I could have dressed three salds with it. Not an auspicious start but I'd also ordered fish & chips, one of my favorites, so I withheld judgement hoping this part of the meal would be good. I was wrong. The fish tasted like, nothing. I tried the alleged malt vinegar and then resorted to the salt shaker to give the fish some flavor. I tried the "tartar sauce" but it tasted like a field of dill had been dropped in it, so it was of no assistance. The cole slaw looked and tasted like something from a bag. By the way it was also swimming. I can honestly say that the bread and butter was fine and the fries were crisp and tasty. In my opinion, especially in SF, don't waste your money here.

    Wonderful food and building

We really enjoyed our food. A selection of entrees was wonderful, and SF's best hot chocolate' for dessert was lovely (but very rich). Service attentive and the maitre d', Doug, is lovely. Can't recommend highly enough.
