Good & Cheap Eat
I was here 12 yrs ago when my boyfriend took me to this restaurant for my birthday and I thought he must be cheap, he was indeed but also he has no money, no job. It was very memorable place for a cheap birthday celebration. Now he is my husband, and we still go there from time to time. Tu Lan has good food, the price never change since 12 yrs ago. Where can you find a meal for under $5 in SF? We love the shrimp fried rice, combo chow mein, imperial rolls, noodle soup all are good and cheap! The only thing I don't like is their water don't taste so good from the faucet. The atmosphere is not the best, but recommend to take the seat in front of the cook, so you will see the cooking show and the people behind you waiting for seat and watching you eat. For tourist - don't be afraid of the panhandlers outside, they are harmless, is just the 6th Street is not the best location in town. But, don't let that stop you come in to this Tu Lan restaurant (hear the late Julia Child was there too). Service is fast, in and go, worth the wait! I will come back anytime!

Yum
This place is the bombest viet food in SF but don't expect a beautiful restaurant. Good service and great food keeps us coming back, sometimes two or three times a week. Closed on Sundays.

A+ Vietnamese at this Hole in the Wall
This place is great. Try the vietnamese fried rice, or the rice noodle dishes. Top notch for the price, under 10 bucks per meal including beer and tip.
