Yummo!!
This place is so good. I've been coming here for over 20 years. My now husband took me here when we were dating. Atmosphere outside the restaurant is scary, but the food is well worth it...LOVES IT!!

Great Food Great Value. The Best in Town. I dare not guess how many meals I've had there. A quick calculation reveals, at least once a week for at least seventeen years: more than eight hundred! What else do you need to know?

awesome but closed...on sundays
I have been coming to this seeding joint for 20 years and they are consistanly killer! Beef cubes, ginger chicken ( I get it without rice and add a side of crispy noodles ) and of course the Imperial rolls are a must....But Damn IT, they are closed on sundays. Please make a note of that.

My father used to take my mother here when they first started going out back in the 80s. They both love the place, but my mother likes healthy food better. Its the best kind of greasy vietnamese food there is! I love the Imperial rolls; I always get them when I go. Its a hole in the wall with an upstairs, and its worth the walk past the 'interesting' people on the street. Its very affordable and the cooks all make great food.

Good & Cheap Eat
I was here 12 yrs ago when my boyfriend took me to this restaurant for my birthday and I thought he must be cheap, he was indeed but also he has no money, no job. It was very memorable place for a cheap birthday celebration. Now he is my husband, and we still go there from time to time. Tu Lan has good food, the price never change since 12 yrs ago. Where can you find a meal for under $5 in SF? We love the shrimp fried rice, combo chow mein, imperial rolls, noodle soup all are good and cheap! The only thing I don't like is their water don't taste so good from the faucet. The atmosphere is not the best, but recommend to take the seat in front of the cook, so you will see the cooking show and the people behind you waiting for seat and watching you eat. For tourist - don't be afraid of the panhandlers outside, they are harmless, is just the 6th Street is not the best location in town. But, don't let that stop you come in to this Tu Lan restaurant (hear the late Julia Child was there too). Service is fast, in and go, worth the wait! I will come back anytime!
